Kenotom develops mission critical embedded systems with focus on motor control, power distribution and battery management applications, and in compliance with the strictest industrial standards. Our main engineering activities lie in the area of low level drivers for μCs, function and diagnostics software development, hardware design, validation and verification. Since the beginning in 2014 we have established several partnerships with some of the largest automotive electronics suppliers and we are currently expanding into the space sector.
To strengthen our multidisciplinary space engineering team, we are looking for a highly motivated Space Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced electronic systems for space applications.
Overview
Space electronic systems operate in highly demanding environments, where reliability, verification and sound engineering practices are essential. Their development brings together electronics hardware, embedded software and systems engineering to meet mission objectives while balancing technical performance, resource constraints, environmental conditions and program requirements. Rigorous analysis, documentation and testing are therefore key elements throughout the development lifecycle.
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
- Contribute to the development of electronic systems and subsystems for space applications throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support electronics hardware activities, including architecture and interface definition, component selection, schematic design, PCB-related activities, analysis and testing.
- Perform or support engineering analyses such as worst-case analysis, power-loss calculations, measurement error propagation, derating and end-of-life component assessment, where applicable.
- Support systems engineering activities, including requirements definition and management, architecture development, interface control, verification planning and technical documentation.
- Contribute to embedded software and hardware-software integration activities where relevant to the project and the candidate’s expertise.
- Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, verification and validation activities, and resolution of technical issues.
- Review and apply relevant space standards, engineering guidelines and customer requirements, including ECSS standards where applicable.
- Support proposal preparation, tender responses, technical offers and early-stage definition of future space projects.
- Assist in technical coordination, project planning and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, customers and external partners.
The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to ensure that technical objectives are achieved, schedules are maintained and development challenges are resolved. The position is based in Thessaloniki, GR, while occasional travel to customer or partner premises may occur.
Studies / Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in electronics, embedded systems, systems engineering for Space applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field is required.
- A relevant Master’s Degree in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a similar discipline is considered a plus.
- Familiarity with ESA and ECSS development standards and methodologies.
- Experience with one or more of the following space electronic systems or related technologies is considered a significant advantage:
- Motor Controllers
- Power Conditioning and Distribution Units (PCDU)
- Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- Mass Memory Units (MMU)
Skills
- Ability to understand complex multidisciplinary systems and hardware-software interactions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with requirements, architecture, interfaces, verification and validation.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative and excellent technical writing capabilities.
- Ability to take ownership, support proposal preparation and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
